POCO India has officially confirmed the “M2 Pro” moniker while also giving us some hints about the design of the smartphone, basically confirming the quad-camera setup.
POCO India has officially revealed the name of its next smartphone as POCO M2 Pro on Twitter. This handset has been in the leaks for a while now. The brand even announced its launch date, which happens to by July 7.
Last month during an interview, POCO India’s GM, Mr. C. Manmohan, spoke about launching a mid-range device exclusively for India. Notably, a mid-range smartphone from POCO has been on the horizon more than a month before that. In the first week of May 2020, a device by the name POCO M2 Pro was spotted briefly under the SAR ratings section of Xiaomi India’s website. A week later, the POCO M2 Pro was spotted on Bluetooth and WiFi certification platforms.
Now, POCO India has officially confirmed the “M2 Pro” moniker while also giving us some hints about the design of the smartphone. Basically confirming the quad-camera setup similar to the Redmi Note 9 Pro. The launch date for the smartphone is barely a week away.
Poco India is promoting the POCO M2 Pro with #FeelTheSurge. Earlier this year, it used #SmoothAF for the Poco F2 launch. That said, both the phones seem to have one thing in common as the upcoming device also seems to be a rebranded handset.
The smartphone has support for 33W fast charging. The company is expected to reveal more features of the phone before its announcement. The teaser image on the microsite shows that it has a square-shaped camera with four cameras inside it.
Poco M2 Pro Price and Specs
The phone had appeared on Geekbench benchmarks. The listing carried its ‘gram’ codename and it revealed that it is driven by a Snapdragon octa-core processor that has a base frequency of 1.80GHz. It could be featuring the Snapdragon 720G SoC. The SoC is coupled with 6 GB of RAM and it is loaded with Android 10 OS.
The smartphone price in India is likely to be Rs 13,999 same as the Redmi Note 9 Pro and is considered to be a rebranded version of the same.
The brand claims the handset to be developed specifically for India. Anyway, we will know more about in the coming days as the Flipkart page clearly mentions the arrival of a new teaser.
