Redmi 9 is going to launch in india today amidst the launch spree on in the month of August and it will shortly be launched in India in few hours from now.
Redmi 9 is going to be the fifth device in the 9 series of smartphones launched this season. It wasnt long before that Redmi Note 9 prime was launched on Aug 4. Though at that point there was confusion about whether multiple device would be launched, however the Redmi 9 was left to be launched few weeks down the lane.

Globally at the last end of 9 series, three devices were launched – Redmi 9, 9a and 9c, however as per the ongoing trend of rebranding or shall we say here re titling the devices and launching them for specific markets, India gets to see Redmi 9 with one device at a time. Clearly it follows the trend of past seasons and seems a successor of Redmi 8 which was launched with Snapdragon 439 and followed suit in Redmi 8A Dual as well. Though this leaves space for more siblings in 9 series clan, though for now our focus is today’s launch of Redmi 9.
Redmi 9 is anticipated as per leaks to have a Helio G35 following the trend of using Mediatek processors in mid range gaming and low end devices thereby sustaining a price advantage. Though Mediatek is showing good signs and it won’t be long before we see more of its processors in high end phones too.
Camera

On the camera front, it most possibly will have if not a dual but a triple camera set up with primary camera with 13 MP ability and the fingerprint and face ID detection as basic unlocking features in any of the phones these days. While the front camera is expected to be a notch based 8MP and this segment doesn’t lead to dual cameras or more innovations in this area, so this would be simple to anticipate.
While Realme CEO has been working day and night to work towards the next series of Realme 7 phones to follow suit soon in next few days, Redmi CEO Manu Jain has been focusing on the other siblings of Redmi 9 series but has succesfully positioned the 9 series especially after the #Redmi9Prime maintaining the below 10k price tag and delivering recently in the specs front. Since Realme 7 series has a scope for more innovations and additions that Madhav Sheth has been busy taking feedback from its viewers and working to ensure the next set of devices deliver on consumer expectations.

Display

And while we talk of expectations, having a decent display is much needed and Redmi 9 will have if not FHD+ but atleast a 6.53″ HD+ display like its predecessor but if consumers get lucky the chance of FHD+ will be a cherry on the top. Considering the Redmi 9 is all about taking the trend of past seasons ahead that we cannot expect too much in this price segment. For sure the launch price is going to be looked up at with great deal of anticipation and we will come to it soon.

Processor
Before we take things ahead, let’s come back to the Helio G35 processor which is not the fastest of the Mediatek processors but it sure is an upgrade to Snapdragon 439. While not only it has a higher AnTuTu score of 107,193 it also has decent gaming abilities though it won’t be as expected suitable for high end games.

The most recently launched Realme C11, C12 and C15 are competitors to Redmi 9 with similar processing abilities. One wonders what made Realme had so many variants with same processor with tit bit changes. Nevertheless.
Battery
Before we move to much anticipated price details, let’s have an overview of battery capability of Redmi 9. It is expected to embed a 5,000 MaH battery with 18W decent fast paced charging capability. Though it would be nice to see if Redmi packs the 18W charger alongside or it need be bought separately.
Price and Variants
Now the price which is what will differentiate Redmi 9 from any other device in this segment and will be a great differentrator. And from what we expect going by the trend, Redmi is no mood to loose the battle to Realme and hence the base price variant of 3GB+32GB will start from โน8,999 while the higher Variant (4GB+64GB) will bear a price of โน9,999. The reason there is a great deal to have this price is because #Redmi9Prime with a higher Helio G80 4GB+64GB variant starts with โน9,999 and hence Redmi will strategically place the price of its younger sibling so not to have an in-family feud and one leading other out of race.

The two variants will come in 4 different colors and if any change is expected it may end up coming in newer shade of Sunrise Flare besides Matt Black, Mint Green and Space Blue.
