Logitech K480 Keyboard for New iPad (2020)

Using Logitech A480 keyboard with the iPad 8th generation

I just received the Logitech 480 Keyboard and will be sharing my first impressions of the same.

So lets get started !

Initial Impression

The box keyboard came inside was very well packed and ensured there no damage. The due seal on it ensured that it is a brand new product. As already known the Logitech 480 Keyboard was going to be on the heavier side. But picking it didn’t give an impression of it being too heavy. Whatever weight it carried was much needed, to hold the multiple devices and give them a good base.

The pairing was easy though there are some areas which remain explored. However as simple it seemed basis my exploration, it came out to be exactly the same, however with a twist. There was a bandage placed at the bottom of the Logitech 480 Keyboard. It acted like a seal so that the battery inside was not in use. Once the small plastic seal was removed a green light lit up and indicated the keyboard was ready to use. Or else for few moments I wasn’t sure as to how the keyboard would start. The idea of this bottom seal was indeed a smart idea. It helped avoid undue use of battery which lay inthe compartment below.

Multi Device Keyboard Quality

Now without further ado let me share as to how I went about pairing the devices with Logitech 480 Keyboard and at which point did I feel stuck and how is the experience for which the keyboard was bought. For clarity, all the content that I am typing with lil clunky sounds is using the same keyboard attached to my New Apple iPad and so far its going good. The keyboard could have been a little softer but nevertheless the keyboard and its plastic seems strong and the key travel is fine with least possible keystrokes.

It is quite interesting to be using the device with this keyboard which may at start seem a lil chunky with hard plastic but it delivers the result. Though the Logitech 480 Keyboard does make clunky sounds and is on lil heavier side but it is easy to lift and if one purchases an iPad cover to balance it one can write from a distance. Also buying a mouse will make the usage of iPad almost remote since one would be in a position to manoeuvre the screen using Bluetooth mouse and type using the Logitech 480 keyboard.

However not digressing from how the keyboard was set up, have a look at the steps below:

Steps to Pair Multi Devices

  1. Remove the plastic seal from bottom of keyboard to the battery activate the keyboard.
  2. Insert the android or iOS device that you have in the slim compartment so it stands tilted but un fallen. It does the job of just standing with a tilt and in case of iOS device like and iPad, it doesn’t use its magnetic holes which fix or attach on the Logitech Smart folio.
  3. Now if you have a Android or iOS device, depending on which at left bottom of the keyboard, click a semi green slider with three levels for three different devices. It is more like a switcher to toggle from one device to another
  4. Now depending on if you are trying to pair an Android device, at top right of the keyboard there are two buttons below the Connect tag to activate Android/Windows/Chrome OS devices (using left button) while the right serves pairing of iOS devices.
  5. As you click the left button for the first android device that was placed, the light blinks for a few seconds thereby showing up in the Bluetooth devices (make sure to turn bluetooth on your android device so that the keyboard can be discovered). This is followed by a 6-digit pairing code which reflects on your android screen, and there you go, your Logitech keyboard is paired ready to be used with your Android device.
  6. You need to follow the same process with the iOS device but before that click the right button below Connect tag (top right of keyboard) and let it blink for couple seconds. Then from there on the process to list keyboard in Bluetooth list of devices happens on your iOS device and you are shown a pairing code. Type is using your iOS device and there finished connection of the iOS device too.
  7. Now one can attach three devices, but before we come to that let me show you how to switch between the two devices.
  8. All you need to do is to use the switcher on top left and place it at ‘1’ which allow use of keyboard for first paired device, followed by the second and third devices. Now all you need to do it use the switcher when you wish to toggle between a device to allow access of keyboard to the concerned device.

It was as simple as it sounds or say even more simpler.
